Governor Polis recently signed Senate Bills 23-16 and 23-285 into law after they passed both houses in the most recent legislative session. These newly enacted statutes create authority to run a Class VI Underground Injection Control (UIC) program necessary to permit carbon sequestration wells at the state level (SB 23-16), and transform the COGCC into an Energy and Carbon Management Commission (SB 23-285), among other things.
