Tariq Adawi is a senior associate at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP, where his practice encompasses a variety of corporate and business transactions. Tariq advises clients through each stage of the business lifecycle, from formation to exit, with a particular emphasis on start-ups and emerging companies, entity formations, mergers and acquisitions, equity financings, syndicated real estate acquisitions and joint ventures, corporate restructurings and divestitures, and soft intellectual property licensing opportunities. Tariq regularly assists clients with ongoing corporate governance and commercial needs. He serves as outside general counsel to a number of clients who value his focus on long-term legal strategies and pragmatic advice. He has represented interests in a broad array of industries, including art and design, asset management, automotive, aviation, hospitality, oil and gas, food and beverage, sports and entertainment, private equity, publishing, retail, real estate, software and technology, sports and entertainment, social media, and transportation.

Tariq has been named a Colorado Rising Star by Thomson Reuters from 2020 to 2022. Prior to joining Davis Graham, he was an attorney at a boutique law firm in Denver. Previously, he co-founded a technology startup based in Kansas City, Missouri, where he co-invented, designed, and patented a unique way to aggregate, gamify, and display social media content in a mobile application format. Earlier in his career, he founded his own design and web development consultancy alongside the Slashthree International Art Collective. Recognizing that no two clients are the same, Tariq leverages his creativity and prior experience to provide clients with unique and practical solutions to their legal needs.

Tariq received his J.D. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law and his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri. In law school, he was a national champion of the Intellectual Property LawMeets® Negotiation Competition and was continuously recognized on the Dean’s List.

Tariq currently serves as a member of the Steering Committee for the Colorado Lawyer’s Committee Nonprofit Legal Audit Clinic, which pairs members of Colorado’s nonprofit business community with teams of diverse attorneys who provide pro bono legal services via a semiannual clinic. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Trout Unlimited’s West Denver chapter and previously co-led the Bloedel-Adawi Pupilage Group of the Minoru Yasui American Inn of Court.
