Chris Lane is a partner and co-leader of the Real Estate Group at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP. He has extensive experience representing clients in all areas of real estate transactions throughout the U.S., including development, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and land use matters. Chris’ expertise also involves representing both borrowers and lenders in real estate financing, including alternative financing structures, such as sale-leaseback transactions. 

Chris represents developers and home builders in residential and commercial projects throughout Colorado. He assists these clients with acquisitions, land use matters, and navigating special district issues. 

Additionally, Chris has experience advising clients in developing and financing renewable energy projects. He has represented a number of energy providers and lenders developing major wind and solar projects. He has comprehensive experience advising on these matters as it relates to title issues, land use, land access, easements, leasing, and acquisitions and dispositions.

Chris is a contributing author to the Colorado Real Estate Practice, one of CBA-CLE’s most respected and widely used publications. He is also an instructor for the related 13-week CLE course.

In his free time, Chris enjoys all forms of biking, skiing, and hiking with his family as well as spending time in Boulder and the Rocky Mountains. 

Representative Matters

  • Worked with a large international client in the acquisition and development of land for a large $800,000,000 industrial building.
  • Worked with the developer, lender, title company, and power company in connection with multiple $1,000,000,000+ 500MW+ wind energy projects involving complicated land and property rights acquisition. 
  • Represented lender in relation to $250,000,000 tax equity financing for a solar project.
  • Represented borrower in relation to a $300,000,000 tax equity financing for a solar project.
  • Represented an apartment developer in the acquisition and entitlement of various projects throughout the Denver metro area valued at up to $100,000,000. 
  • Represented a landowner in the $62 million refinancing of a multi-building office property. 
  • Assisted with real estate components of a $200 million asset sale involving numerous real estate assets. 
  • Negotiated the sale of a $22 million apartment portfolio. 
  • Negotiated a $50 million loan on behalf of an apartment developer. 
  • Negotiated the $36 million refinancing of a 177-unit apartment complex. 
  • Represented a national hospitality company in multistate land acquisitions and related development. 
  • Represented the seller in an apartment portfolio sale involving 31 properties.
