Joel Mayo’s practice covers all areas of real estate transactions and “dirt law.” For more than 25 years, he has provided practical, responsive counsel and representation to developers, entities, and individuals through all stages of real estate acquisition, entitlement, land use, development, financing, divestment, and commercial leasing.
As a natural extension of his real estate experience, Joel also works with developers and real property owners with respect to the negotiation, preparation, and facilitation of development agreements, construction contracts, and architectural/professional agreements.
In addition, Joel has extensive experience in the purchase and sale of ranch land, drafting contracts and facilitating the purchase and sale of tens of thousands of acres of residential, recreational, and working ranches. In collaboration with other Davis Graham attorneys, his practice in this area includes evaluation and transfer of water and water rights, transfer of state and federal grazing leases, purchase of ranch assets (including cattle), and consultation and assistance in the establishment and amendment of conservation easements.
Jill has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in the area of Real Estate since 2015. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and recently concluded a three-year term on the Real Estate Section Council. He is a former member of the board of directors for the Rocky Mountain Conservancy, a nonprofit corporation partnering with and supporting Rocky Mountain National Park through philanthropic and educational efforts aimed at advancing stewardship, preservation, and restoration of the Park and similar public lands.
