Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP is pleased to announce that Kyler K. Burgi, Edward R. Shaoul, and Emily L. Wasserman will become partners of the firm on January 1, 2022.

Kyler K. Burgi specializes in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, complex commercial litigation, and toxic tort litigation. He helps clients navigate complex insolvency and creditors’ rights issues across several industries, including oil and gas, mining, real estate, retail, tech, and recreation. Mr. Burgi has been named among Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch in the areas of Commercial Litigation (2021 and 2022) and Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law (2022). Outside his practice, he serves as a member of the Prosper Colorado Leadership Council, as the co-chair of the Colorado Bar Association Bankruptcy Subsection, and on the Associate Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado. Mr. Burgi received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he graduated first in his class. While in law school, he competed nationally as a member of the Sturm College of Law’s ABA-NTC National Trial Team, served as an editor of the Denver Law Review, and interned for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Mr. Burgi is admitted to practice in Colorado, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Edward R. Shaoul focuses his practice on securities offerings and compliance, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions. He works with clients across a range of industries, including oil and gas, mining, financial services, health care, real estate, and technology. With more than 10 years of investment banking and finance experience, including at Allen & Company and Goldman Sachs in New York, he is uniquely able to provide practical solutions for his clients from both legal and capital markets perspectives. Mr. Shaoul received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his MBA from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business. During law school, he was editor-in-chief of the Denver Law Review. He currently serves on the alumni council of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and on the Advisory Board of the Denver Law Review. In addition, he has served as a member of the Davis Graham Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and on the Board of Directors of JEWISHcolorado. Mr. Shaoul is admitted to practice law in Colorado.

Emily L. Wasserman focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, intellectual property disputes, and counseling clients regarding their intellectual property rights. She was named among Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch in the area of Commercial Litigation (2021 and 2022) and Intellectual Property Law (2022) and is a member of the 2021 General Counsel Mentor Program. Ms. Wasserman maintains a robust pro bono practice and is active in the community. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for Silicon Flatirons, a center for students, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and professionals whose mission is to elevate the debate surrounding technology policy issues. She previously participated in and was a coach for the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation’s Impact Denver Program and served on the Board of Directors for the Girls Athletic Leadership Schools of Denver. Ms. Wasserman received her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, where she was the executive editor of the University of Colorado Law Review. Prior to joining Davis Graham, Ms. Wasserman served as a law clerk to the Honorable Brian D. Boatright, the current chief justice of the Colorado Supreme Court. Ms. Wasserman is admitted to practice law in Colorado.
