Press Releases | August 28, 2020 Davis Graham Receives 2020 RMIAN Pro Bono Service Award

Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has been named the recipient of the 2020 Pro Bono Service Award from the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN). This award is part of the 15th RMIAN Immigrant Liberty Awards, which celebrate honorees’ transformative contributions to Colorado’s immigrant and refugee communities. Davis Graham attorneys Kenzo Kawanabe and Shalyn Kettering accepted the award on behalf of the firm at a virtual ceremony held this week.

“Our community is strengthened by its members’ support for each other, and at Davis Graham we encourage our lawyers to use their unique expertise to give back and make a positive impact,” said Davis Graham Pro Bono Partner Chris Lane. “While pro bono advocacy is inherently rewarding, this award is particularly meaningful to us as a recognition of the tremendous work of our attorneys who have assisted individuals and families fleeing persecution in other countries.”

For years, Davis Graham has been a vital partner for RMIAN in providing pro bono representation to individuals in detention and to children in immigration proceedings. Davis Graham attorneys have been at the forefront in responding to the surge in detained asylum seekers in Colorado by helping prepare more than 70 detained asylum seekers for their credible fear interviews, taking a leadership role in RMIAN’s Preparing Asylum Seekers for Success (PASS) Program, and representing detained asylum seekers in their merits hearing. To date, Davis Graham attorneys have successfully obtained asylum for individuals from countries such as Cameroon, Eritrea, and Cuba and continue to work tirelessly to secure protection for detained asylum seekers in danger of persecution and torture abroad.
