Navigating Professional Responsibility as Leaders in Law Firms, Corporations, and Beyond
Attorneys in leadership roles—whether in firms, companies, or other organizations—face unique ethical challenges that require commitment to professional responsibility while also balancing obligations to advance organizational objectives and supervise other attorneys and professionals. This CLE program will explore attorneys’ ethical obligations in leadership positions, drawing on the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct and the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct. Topics include assessing reasonable efforts of legal leaders to ensure conformity with applicable rules, establishing an organizational climate of ethical professional conduct, and exercising leadership with respect to attorney supervision, conflicts of interest, and confidentiality. In this session, Davis Graham attorneys Mark Champoux and Hannah McCrory will be joined by Colonel Russell “Rusty” Parson, Retired, U.S. Army, most recently assigned as General Counsel for U.S. Army Pacific and formerly the director of the Legal Center and founding director of the Leadership Center at the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School.

President-Elect Trump has promised swift action on “Day One” of his second term on high-priority environmental, energy, and enforcement issues. These actions – presumably in the form of executive orders and the termination of prior orders – will reveal the administration’s priorities and identify those policies enacted by President Biden that will be first on the chopping block. Significant changes are expected with respect to oil and gas development on public lands, renewable energy, methane regulation, and enforcement tools. This webinar will review these initial actions and forecast some steps Congress and federal agencies may take to effectuate these priorities.

Join Davis Graham for a comprehensive overview of what business organizations need to know about developments in the use, regulation, and governance of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) systems. Organizations that develop, use, or are impacted by AI systems face a rapidly-evolving governance environment. This seminar will discuss important developments in industry standard governance frameworks such as NIST and IAPP and will address how those frameworks affect businesses and transactions. The seminar will also provide an overview of Colorado’s first-in-the-nation comprehensive AI consumer protection legislation, which may be a model for other state or federal legislative efforts and which itself is likely to be subject to amendment. The seminar will also cover other AI-related legal developments, such as IP litigation involving AI, liability risks for GenAI products and services, AI in M&A transactions, and other efforts by governments and courts to regulate AI.
