As geothermal development gains momentum in the energy transition, developers, investors, and counsel must navigate a complex web of legal and commercial challenges. This webinar provides a practical overview of the geothermal project lifecycle, with a focus on lease structuring and navigating regulatory and financing hurdles in key U.S. markets.
Topics will include land acquisition strategies, geothermal estate ownership, water law considerations, well permitting, plant siting, power purchase agreements, and public utility issues, along with emerging opportunities involving co-located data centers. Please join Davis Graham and your natural resources peers at our 13th annual Energy M&A and Financing Forum. Attendees will get an in-depth look at the issues that are currently impacting M&A and financing in the energy sector. Discussions will cover a range of topics, including:
Trends in Oil & Gas M&A : This presentation will discuss various key provisions of a typical oil and gas M&A transaction, highlight the differences between sell-side provisions and buy-side provisions, and explain the legal rationale behind these provisions. We will also discuss the latest negotiating and drafting trends in oil and gas M&A and what is considered “market.” This discussion will be supported by the data and findings from our survey of over 100 oil and gas M&A transactions entered into over the past four years.
Capital Raising Strategies: This panel will discuss current trends for various energy transactions and how energy deals are being structured from a legal perspective. The panel will also address why some deals did not close and how lawyers can try and prevent failed deals.
Dealmaking Today & Beyond: This panel will discuss current trends affecting energy M&A, including increased levels of competition, commodity price risks and consolidation issues.
Future of Energy: Geothermal Energy: Geothermal energy has emerged as a darling among proponents of both conventional and renewable energy. Whereas other forms of renewable energy are encountering political and economic headwinds, interest in and support for geothermal energy remains strong, partly because upstream oil and gas producers have been adapting their technologies and utilizing their expertise to exploit geothermal resources. This panel will explore the economics and financing of geothermal projects and forecast trends in their growth.
